Erasmus+ and Academic Cooperation Visits to Argentina and Brazil

To expand its internationalization vision and Erasmus+ mobility network, and to offer new international opportunities to students and staff, Kütahya Dumlupınar University’s ULMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derya Deliktaş and Deputy Director Lecturer Elif Körpe conducted a comprehensive working visit to universities in Argentina and Brazil.

Visits were made to Universidad Nacional Arturo Jauretche, Universidad Nacional de La Matanza (UNLaM), and Universidad Nacional Guillermo Brown in Argentina on September 7–8, 2026. Discussions regarding the expansion of Erasmus+ opportunities took place during meetings hosted by Miguel Binstock, Secretary General of Universidad Nacional Arturo Jauretche, and Prof. Dr. Rafael Ruffo, Director of the International Office. Subsequently, talks were held with Dr. Federico Scremin, Secretary of International Relations at Universidad Nacional de La Matanza (UNLaM), and Dr. Matias Triguboff, Academic Secretary at Universidad Nacional Guillermo Brown, regarding possibilities for developing international collaborations.

During the visit to Argentina, a crucial diplomatic engagement took place that would help shape internationalization strategies. The DPÜ ULMER delegation visited the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Argentina; they held diplomatic consultations and gathered valuable guidance regarding the types of academic collaborations that could be established between Türkiye and Latin America—given the region's geographic and strategic location—and how higher education institutions from both countries could play a more active role in Erasmus+ and joint projects.

In Brazil, the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) hosted the Kütahya Dumlupınar University delegation on September 10, holding a critical summit that strengthened academic cooperation between the two countries. At a meeting attended by Rector Roberto de Souza Rodrigues, Vice-Rector for Research, Graduate Studies, and Innovation Cesar Augusto Da Ros, representatives from the International Relations Office (DRII), and numerous academic departments, a decision was made to implement "Collaborative Online International Learning" (COIL) activities—an initiative viewed as the future of internationalization that enhances global student interaction. On September 11, further discussions were held with Dr. Guilherme Antunes Ramos (Director of International Relations at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro), Kenny Neoob (International Relations Coordinator for the Faculty of Fine Arts), and Prof. Eduardo Portugal (International Relations Coordinator for the Faculty of Physical Education) to explore potential areas of collaboration within various frameworks, including Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) projects, TÜBİTAK bilateral cooperation programs, and COIL projects.

These intensive academic collaboration visits served as a turning point for the future of international project activities and Erasmus+ exchange programs offered to students and academic staff, while simultaneously strengthening Kütahya Dumlupınar University's vision of internationalization. Through these robust bridges established with Latin America, DPÜ aims to further consolidate its position in the global academic community with each passing day.
